Greetings from The Silver Thread Fly Fishing Club. Late June, fishing has been excellent so far. The river has been dropping fast. Finally got a chance to do a little fishing. We got a late start, launching from the Ranch about 9:30 am. The Green Drakes started coming off around 10:45 am, just like clock work. We worked the riffles hard, and had excellent results for about 3 hours landing all big fish, mostly Browns with some large Rainbows also netted. We used almost all our techniques including Dry / Dry, Dry / Dropper and Nymph Rig. I would rate my 4 hours of fishing on the river a 10 out of 10 by Rio Grande standards, which this time of year is a very high standard. I'm going to wait until after the 4th of July weekend before I hit some of the smaller mountain streams. See you on the river.

It's early April on The Rio. Fishing Season is back with great anticipation. A better than average snow pack in the high country should provide us with good flows for the season. Time to grab the rods and get some quality time on the water before the spring release and flood time. As the water temp rises, try drifting streamers slowly thru the shallows in the late afternoons for hungry trout awaking from their winter slumbers.

Early December 09 brought 3 nice storms that dropped over 175 inches of white stuff on Wolf Creek Pass. This is a good start to what looks like another great ski season. The forecast is for more snow during the next 2 weeks of January. Hooray!

Early November on the San Juan River, New Mexico. A nice way to end the fishing season. Now we'll pray for a good winter snow pack and some awesome skiing at Wolf Creek Pass.

As summer progresses we move North. Late August produced some very good action on the North Platte River in Wyoming. We broke camp and headed to Montana where we spent early september floating the Big Horn, Yellow Stone and Madison Rivers.

Late May '09... Our first STFFC Private Charter of the season takes us to Marble Canyon and Lee's Ferry. A controlled release at the dam produced some of the best action I've seen at the ferry for about 3 days, reminiscent of the 80s and early 90s.
